Diet typesThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other weight loss systems. Good foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, clams, cottage cheese, pecan halves, eggs and certain vegetables, such as black beans, broccoli and turnips. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weightloss system is reliant on the gi index, a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the ease that the carbohydrates of the food type gets converted to glucose in your body. The believe is that slow acting food types (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and help you to eat less food without being miserabl;e. It's also extremely good for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in preventing rises in blood glucose secretion. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight reduction diet, although many zone diet fans find that they actually reduce weight by following it. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a state of balance that is far more wholesome than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its best and, because of this, doesn't build up fat. The most important method of the zone system is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The Atkins’ Diet Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it claims to allow weight loss but still allows you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like meat and some dairy produce. With this diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.
