The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, although many people claim that they lose weight by following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is much more wholesome than normal, known as the 'zone'. Sears states that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a result, does not need to build up stores of fat. The most valuable procedure of the system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should be eating "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies. Examples of good foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, fish, feta cheese, almonds, nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as asparagus, eggplant and mushrooms. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes onion, apples, soya & thyme) The nutrients known as flavonoids which exist in these natural foods show promise in fighting cancer. Doctors researching the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they may well have numerous other health giving capabilities, including, but not limited to, anti-dermatitis and antiplatelet activities.. Many also have a low calorie count, so you should add them to your diet system. |
