Foods containing carotenes (includes cilantro, mangos and tomato puree) These orange and green plants contain alpha and beta carotenes thought by many be a key nutrient in minimizing the risk of cancer, spefically cancer of the esophagus. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet. The Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like lamb and butter. With the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, weight loss regime. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the atkins diet is that if we consume less carbs, we will utilise our fat and we will diet successfully |
