The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific data completed on other nutritional studies. Approved foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, seafood, cottage cheese, peanuts, nonfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as lentils, broccoli and water chestnuts. Foods containing lycopene (includes water melon, red bell peppers & cochinchin gourd) The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring chemical compound and member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. Lycopene is the reason for the vivid red hue of many types of food. Fortunately, unlike most other nutritional compounds, this useful phytochemical does not become less effective if subjected to heat, but is genuinely made more effective by the cooking process. . Its key advantage is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is thought to help lower the risks of contracting cancer. It is the most efficacious remover of singlet oxygen, which is linked with skin aging. It is also thought to prevent the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. |
