Diet typesThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented this diet for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific data completed on other weight loss studies. "good" foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, cottage cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat milk and some vegatables, like artichokes, celery and spinach. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet first advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, however many 'zone dieters' find that they really reduce body weight by following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the levels of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts the body in a state of balance that is a lot more healthful than it normally is, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up fat. The key procedure of the zone system is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. |
