Types of dietThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet created by Dr. arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented his dietary regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his analysis of scientific data completed on other dietary studies. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing food types and an indicator of the speed that the glucose and energy of the food gets transformed to sugar in the dieters system. The claim is that slow release types of food (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite and mean that you can eat less food without feeling hungry. It's also extremely efficient for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in reducing increases in blood glucose levels. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it enables fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example lamb and hard cheeses. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system first advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight reduction diet, however many people discover that they actually seem to lose weight by following the zone diet. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts one's body in a balanced state that is much more wholesome than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
