The Recipe Instructions

Ingredients

FROM CELTIC HEARTHS; KRASNER

2 cup rolled oats, (not instant)
2 1/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cup unbleached flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Directions

The day before serving, mix the oats with 1-1/4 cups of the
buttermilk in a bowl. Cover and let stand overnight at room
temperature. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a baking
sheet and set aside. Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda.
Gradually beat the flour mixture into the oat-buttermilk mixture,
adding remaining buttermilk as you work, to form a soft dough. You
may not need to use the full 2-1/4 cups buttermilk. Turn dough out
onto a floured surface and flatten with hands or floured rolling pin
so that it forms a circle about 1 inch thick and 9 to 10-inches in
diameter. With a sharp knife, cut into quarters or eighths, as
desired, and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes, or
until browned. Serve warm. Note: These are high in fiber and low in
fat, provided you don't slather them with butter. Delicious with jam
or marmalade.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the famous atkins diet is still widely used today. Popular with many famous celebrities, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like meat and cheeses.
With this diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index weight loss program is linked to the gi index, a chart showing food types and a score representing the rapidity that the energy in the food gets transformed to glucose in your body. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and help to eat less food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremely effective for folk with diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in managing surges in glucose amount.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, chives and green onion)

The onion range of vegetables is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is insufficient scientific evidence at hand, allyl sulphides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce problems with antiinflammatory effect, high blood pressure and physical exhaustion.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so are ideal for including in your weight loss program.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
