The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index weight loss regime is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing food types and a score illustrating the speed with which the carbs in the food gets transformed to sugar in your blood stream. The claim is that slow release types of food (ie those food types with a low Gi score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help to consume less food without feeling you are missing out. It's also beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are useful in reducing surges in blood sugar secretion. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his dietary regime for people who have cardiac problems, based on his detailed study of scientific studies on other nutritional studies. "good" foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, shellfish, feta cheese, peanuts, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as chickpeas, cucumbers and water chestnuts. Superfoods containing carotenes (includes parsley, rose hip puree and sweet potatoes) These orange and green superfoods contain the carotenoids thought to play a major part in minimising the risk of cancer, particularly cancers of the esophagus. Many also have a low calorie count, so make sure you add them to your weight loss program. |
