Ingredients
6 cup whole-wheat flour
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp active dry yeast
2 cup water, very warm (120)
Directions
Recipe by: McDougall In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour and yeast. Mix
the honey in the warm water. Add the water to the flour mixture and
beat for 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl
occasionally. (Or beat 150 strokes by hand.) Stir in enough flour to
make soft dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured board. Knead until
smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour if it is
too sticky. Place in bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until
doubled in bulk, about 1 hour. Punch dough down, turn onto lightly
floured board. Cover, let rest 30 minutes. Divide dough into 10 equal
pieces. Shape each into a ball. On a lightly floured board, roll each
ball into a 6 inch circle. Place on a lightly floured baking sheet.
Bake on bottom rack of preheated 450 degree oven. Bake about 5
minutes. Tops will not be brown. To brown tops, place under broiler 3
inches from heat, for 1 minute. From the collection of Sue Smith,

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet first created by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight loss diet, but many people claim that they reduce weight by following the zone diet. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is much, much more healthy than it normally is, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat. The main procedure of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. Foods containing lycopene (includes grapefruit, papaya & tomato) The nutrient lypcopene is a simple chemical compound and a member of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is the reason for the red colour of some natural foods. Unlike most other nutrients, this useful phytochemical does not become less effective if cooked but is truly strengthened by being heated. . Lycoprene's main theraputic value is that it acts as an antioxidant and is believed to help lower the probabilty of contracting cancer. It is the most potent fighter of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with aging of the skin. It is also thought by many experts to curtail the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. |
