Ingredients
1/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot
1 can sour cherries - (16 oz), drained,
reserving 1/2 cup of the liquid
1/4 tsp vanilla
2 cup low-fat frozen vanilla yogurt
Directions
In a saucepan over low heat, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Stir well
to keep the cornstarch from clumping and cook for 1 minute.
Add the reserved juice from the cherries to the sugar-cornstarch mixture.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick and clear, about 2 to 3
minutes. Add the cherries and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the extract and remove the cherries from the heat.
Scoop the yogurt into 4 serving dishes. Pour 1/2 cup of the cherries over
each serving of yogurt.
This recipe yields 4 servings. Serving size: 1 sundae.

Comments: Sour cherries are smaller and softer than sweet cherries. While
too tart to eat raw, sour cherries are best for pie making and preserves.
The cherry season is short in most parts of the country, but, fortunately,
canned sour cherries are available. This recipe adds a little zip to
frozen yogurt. Try the sauce over slices of low-fat, low-sugar cakes too.

"good" foods include, veal cutlets, turkey breast, shellfish, parmesan cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, like split peas, cabbage and spinach. A low calorie weight loss regime Put simply, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you intend to diet successfully, the important thing to injest less calories than your body requires. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is a unit for measuring food's ability to produce heat and energy. The food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If your meal contains more calories, then it will turn into more energy to use when your body digests it. Low-cal foods include cabbage, bell pepper, apricots, low fat hot-dogs, and white eggs. Carotenoid foods (includes carrots, collard greens and winter squash) These colorful natural foods are rich in carotenes (alpha and beta) thought by many to help in helping prevent cancer, specifically of the the lung, esophagus and stomach. A good number also help you lose weight, so should be included in your diet. |
