Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, chives and spring onions)

The onion and garlic family of foods is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is precious little scientific evidence available, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to reduce the symptoms of colds, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet system.

A low calorie weight loss regime

As most people know, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you are going to reduce weight, then you have to eat fewer calories than you use.

Definition of a calorie?
The calorie is a unit for measuring food's ability to produce heat and energy. A calorie is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. If a meal contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when eaten.

Low-cal food types include broccoli, carrots, apricots, canadian bacon, and bamboo shoots.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
