The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet system is based on the gi index, a list showing types of food and a score representing the rapidity that the glucose of the food type gets transformed to sugar in your system. The believe is that slow acting foods (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you satiated for longer and help to eat less food without feeling hungry. It's also extremely beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are useful in preventing rises in blood sugar amount. A low calorie weight loss regime Put simply, the low-cal diet depends on the fact that if you intend to lose weight, then you have to injest less calories than you need for exercise. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is the unit used for measuring the amount of energy in food. The 'calorie' is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If a meal contains more calories, then it will gives you more energy to use when your body digests it. Examples of low calorie foods include lettuce, bell pepper, melon, canadian bacon, and eggs. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes pickled shallots, onions and green onion) The onion and garlic family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is insufficient definitive proof available, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to help with blood circulation, arteriosclerosis and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in every diet. |
