Weight loss diets

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example lamb and egg and cheese.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the famous atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbs, our bodies will utilize the fat we have stored and we will lose weight

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of food types and an indicator of the rapidity with which the glucose in the food gets changed to glucose in your bloodstream. The theory is that slow acting food types (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can eat less food without being miserabl;e.
It's also extremely good for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are useful in minimizing rises in blood glucose levels.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented this diet for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific research completed on other diets.
Good foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, oysters, cottage cheese, almonds, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as green beans, cauliflower and mushrooms.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
