The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not particularly a weight loss diet, but many zone diet fans find that they really manage to lose weight by following the zone diet.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts the body in a state of balance which is far more wholesome than normal, which is known as the zone.
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up fat.
The most valuable procedure of the zone system is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils.

The low calorie diet

In a nutshell, low calorie diet states that if you intend to lose weight, it is essential to injest less calories than you use.

The calorie defined?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The 'calorie' is the the amount of energy required to raise one cubic centimeter of water by one degree centigrade. If a food type has more calories, then it will gives you a larger amount of energy when your body converts it.

Foods low in calories include cabbage, swede, water melon, lean ham, and skimmed milk.

Foods containing lycopene
(includes apricots, red peppers & tomato puree)

The phytochemical lycopene is a natural pigment and member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is responsible for the deep red colour of some foods.

Usefully, unlike numerous nutrients, lycopene does not become less effective if heated during cooking, but is genuinely made more effective by being cooked.

. Lycoprene's key nutritional contribution is that it works as an antioxidant and appears to be an asset in the fight to lower the risk of developing cancer.

It is the strongest eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is connected with aging of the skin. It's also thought by many researchers to prevent the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
