Lycopene superfoods
(includes apricots, red peppers and tomato)

The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring chemical compound and one of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. Lycopene is responsible for the dark red hue of quite a few types of food.

Intrestingly, unlike numerous nutrients, this useful phytochemical is not damaged if it is cooked, rather it is observably enhanced by being cooked.

. Its most interesting health contribution is that it works as an antioxidant and appears to be of use in the battle to lower the chances of contracting cancer.

This useful phytochemical is the most efficacious quencher of singlet oxygen, which is associated with skin aging. It is also thought by many researchers to impede the growth of atherosclerosis.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, white onions and spring onions)

The onion and garlic range of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is as yet, not enough scientific proof obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce the symptoms of colds, sterilization and diabetes.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so make sure you add them to your diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
