Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow weight reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, eg beef and cheeses.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic behind the atkins diet is that if we reduce your intake of carbohydrates, we will burn up our fat and we will achieve weight loss

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight reduction diet, although some people find that they actually lose a few pounds when following it.
The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance that is more healthy than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The main process of the zone diet is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing foods and an indicator of the ease with which the carbohydrates of the food gets converted to sugar in your body. The claim is that slow acting types of food (ie with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite and help to reduce your intake of food without feeling you are missing out.
It's also extremely efficient for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in controlling rises in blood glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
