The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed the south beach diet for people who have cardiac problems, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other weight loss studies. Approved foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, mozzarella cheese, pecan halves, eggs and some vegatables, like chickpeas, collard greens and sprouts. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) diet system is reliant on the glycaemic index, a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the ease that the carbs of the food gets converted to sugar in your system. The believe is that long-acting foods (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite and help to eat fewer food without feeling hungry. It's also extremely effective for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in minimizing increases in glucose amount. Flavonoid foods (inlcudes citrus fruits, cabbage, adzuki bean and tea) The nutrients known as flavonoids which exist in these fruit and vegetables show promise in fighting cancer. Doctors researching the medical effects of flavonoids think they may well have most other benefits to our health, including anti-asthma and antiplatelet properties. Most also have a low calorie count, so should be included in every diet. |
