Types of dietThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially advocated by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, although many followers find that they seem to lose weight when following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance which is far more healthful than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears claims that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The main technique of the zone diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Popular with many famous celebrities, it enables weight loss whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example bacon and egg and cheese. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The theory of the atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, our bodies will utilize our stored fat and we will reduce weight The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is based on the gi index, a list of food types and a score illustrating the speed with which the glucose of the food type gets changed to sugar in your body. The theory is that slow release foods (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite for longer and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without craving snacks all the time. It's also extremely beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI foods are useful in minimizing surges in glucose secretion. |
