Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, onions and green onion)

The alliaceae family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is not much real proof present, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to aid in colds, arteriosclerosis and physical exhaustion.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so should be included in your weight loss program.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like fatty meat and eggs.
With this diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the popular atkins diet is that although our bodies use both fats and carbohydrates to change into glucose, it is the carbohydrates which are burned primarily. If we consume fewer carbohydrates, our bodies will consume our fat and we will become thinner. This theory is divisive, not all nutritionalists accept this as true and a good number of believe it might be bad for your health.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
