The Recipe Instructions
 

 

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 cup warm water (110 f)
2 tsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp salt


Directions

These tortillas are lower in saturated fat, with no cholesterol and
higher in fiber than traditional tortillas prepared with lard and
white flour.

Cornstarch, for dusting the tortillas

Stir together the first 6 ingredients.

On a floured board knead until smooth.

Divide dough into 12 equal balls. Dust lightly with cornstarch.

Roll into a circle as thin as possible on a lightly-floured board.

Drop onto a very hot ungreased griddle. Cook until brown spots
appear on one side.

Turn and cook on second side.

Yield: 12 large tortillas

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not exactly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' find that they really manage to lose weight when following it.
The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is much, much more healthful than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The key method of the zone diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.
